With the introduction of vehicles with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist Systems) features the Auto Glass Industry has changed forever. Gone are the days of just installing a windshield and moving on to the next vehicle.
Today’s systems are more advanced and integrated. They use multiple sensor inputs such as cameras and radar to assist and warn the driver of surrounding danger. Some examples include forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane assist, and more. The increase in complexity has brought about a challenge in the auto glass industry. You can no longer perform basic procedures or replace components and not worry about it affecting these driver assist systems. And if you replace a component that is attached to these systems, you will find that it will require a recalibration to clear a warning or check engine light.

Requires a specific target image mounted on a fixture in front of the vehicle during the recalibration process.
Dynamic Recalibration
Requires driving the vehicle at a set speed on well marked roads to recalibrate the camera system.
